Right Honourable Dato' Seri Menteri Besar Perak

Beginilah seorang Menteri Besar lawan diperlakukan di dalam halaman Facebook Dato' Nizar Jamaludin. Kalau begini, bilalah agaknya Rakyat Perak akan kembali kepada perdamaian?

Tentulah persepsi pertama kita apabila melihat gambar ini ialah betapa ceteknyanya pemikiran penyokong Dato' Nizar. Perlakuan politik pancuran (gutter politic) amatlah mudah dilakukan tetapi kerosakan imej kepada Dato' Nizar sukar sekali untuk diperbaiki.

Keduanya, kemungkinan ada usaha untuk melebarkan lagi persengketaan dengan paparan gambar sedemikian dan tanggungjawab adalah di bahu Dato' Seri Nizar untuk memastikan yang beliau perlu berhati-hati dalam membenarkan paparan sedemikian wujud di dalam laman FB beliau sendiri.

Bagaimanapun dari sudut positif pula, saya perhatikan insiden ini cuma satu sahaja dalam ratusan komen yang ada di situ. Yang lain tampaknya perbincangan dan komen-komen yang lebih bertamadun (civilised discussions).

Usaha penyokong Dato' Nizar untuk terus menambah sokongan terutamanya menggunakan ruangan Facebook tampak membuahkan hasil dengan pertambahan FBers yang menjadi penyokong beliau setiap hari. Beberapa rakan sekolah yang merupakan profesional-profesional juga kelihatan menjadi penyokong beliau.

Kesimpulannya, di dalam Facebook juga kita boleh bersetuju untuk tidak bersetuju...tetapi secara yang bertamadun! Kudos.

Sabah Cabinet Reshuffles with a Bang!

Right after cabinet meeting today, YAB Datuk Seri Musa Aman, Chief Minister of Sabah announced his reshuffled cabinet line up of Sabah.
News of Sabah's state cabinet reshuffle has been rife following Datuk Raymond Tan joining Parti Gerakan recently.

Let start off with...

Datuk Peter Pang, a Vice President of LDP, replace Datuk Raymond for the Deputy Chief Minister post (Chinese quota). Hey!, what happen to Datuk Chin Su Phin.

A Deputy President of LDP bypassed by his own vice president???).

Further, a relative unknown also from the LDP fold, Merotai Assemblyman Pang Yuk Min climb another ladder to become Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development Ministry.

There were some sort of controversy back when the March 8th election was held last year when Pang was chosen as a BN candidate over the incumbent Datuk Liew Yun Fah who was subsequently dismissed from LDP ( for allegedly supporting an opposition candidate- citation needed here).

The appointment of Pang Yuk Ming will be seen as twice the snub for Datuk Chin Su Phin who had been vocal recently with the continued hold by Datuk Raymond on the Deputy Chief Minister's post.

Datuk Chin Su Phin is the most senior LDP party man never to hold any ministerial post.

Ok nuff of Datuk Chin and back to Datuk Raymond Tan.

In the same cabinet reshuffle today Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah (who once gave me his business card, err..no.. maybe more like a government card) is set to replace Datuk Ewon Ebin as Minister of Industrial Development which is more aptly known as Menteri KKIP for its jurisdiction over the vast Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park.

Ok ok right right right right..., KKIP has got its share of controversies but that is another story for other bloggers.

Datuk Ewon Ebin (of UPKO) moves over to Ministry of Rural Development and appropriately because Datuk Ewon is a Dusun who would be the best person to oversee the majority of Dusun residing in the country side.

And the covetted post of Minister of Infrastructure Development will be administered by the evergreen Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin Kitingan (PBS President).

Err.. about Datuk Pairin's appointment I'd better leave the speculation to you the reader because I held Datuk Pairin with the highest regard.

I've been to his home once and could have been bitten by a dog had he not came running out to caress the doggy, phew..)

This is getting too long i'll lull you guys to sleep. Ok quick summary...

Donald Mojuntin (UPKO) moves from out from the assistant Minister of Resource and IT Development post to Assistant Finance Ministry II.

The status quo is, he still is the one and only assistant Minister still fighting to get citiczenship for his wife.

Sigh.. hope that will not disturb him carrying out his duty.

Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid (if I'm not mistaken she is an in-law of Datuk Ghapur Salleh-citation needed again) of UMNO will take over Donald Mojuntin's former post at Ministry of Resource and IT Development.

Datuk Michael Asang (PBS) will assume the post of assistant Minister at Ministry of Industrial Development.

Other Ministers and Assistant Ministers retain their respective post.

Lastly, I will leave this posting with a bang, but I will let others do the shooting for me. Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, you can fire now :

Dengan selesainya rombakan kecil kabinet negeri Sabah hari ini, maka berakhirlah semua spekulasi serta teka-teki yang melanda negeri Sabah sejak keluarnya parti SAPP pimpinan Yong Teck Lee dari BN pada bulan Ogos 2008, akibat terpedaya dengan impian 16 SEPTEMBER yang dicanang-canang Pakatan Rakyat dan Anwar Ibrahim.
Semoga kabinet negeri Sabah akan meneruskan segala perancangan baik yang telah di atur untuk membangunkan Sabah serta mensejahterakan rakyat tanpa sebarang gangguan akibat ketidak-tentuan iklim politik yang amat tidak diperlukan.

Karpal terjatuh dari kerusi roda di mahkamah

Ahli Parlimen Bukit Gelugor, Karpal Singh terjatuh daripada kerusi rodanya ketika menghadiri sebutan kes permohonan Menteri Besar Pahang, Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob untuk menangguhkan keputusan bayaran berjumlah RM63 juta kepada sebuah syarikat pembalakan di Mahkamah Tinggi Kuantan hari ini.

Beliau yang mewakili syarikat Seruan Gemilang Makmur Sdn Bhd, diangkat beberapa pembantunya menaiki tangga ke tingkat satu mahkamah sebelum terjatuh di bahagian kaki lima mahkamah berkenaan selepas kerusi roda yang dinaikinya hilang keseimbangan.

Karpal ketika ditemui wartawan selepas kes tersebut ditangguhkan berkata, kejadian itu (terjatuh) adalah pertama kali berlaku kepadanya, lapor Bernama.

Katanya, beliau mengalami sakit di bahagian belakang badan ekoran kejadian itu, malah sukar menggerakkan kedua tangan pada peringkat awalnya.

"Sudah sampai masanya kita mempunyai sistem yang baik bagi kemudahan OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya), nasib baik tidak berlaku apa-apa ke atas saya, kalau tidak, akan ada pilihanraya kecil lagi," katanya.

Ditanya sama ada beliau akan memohon untuk meneruskan kes berkenaan di Mahkamah Tinggi yang terletak di bahagian bawah bangunan itu, Karpal berkata, "I have to" (saya perlu lakukan).

Sabah Umno Youth chief Japlin Akim, who was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Thursday and remanded for three days to facilitate investigations, was released on bail today.
Japlin, who is also Sabah assistant minister for infrastructure development, is among the Umno leaders found guilty by the powerful Umno disciplinary board last month in the run-up to the party polls.

Coffee shop talks speculates that the graft indictments and suspension of Datuk Japlin by UMNO disciplinary board was made possible from complaints made by a prominent fellow UMNO Sabah businessman in the pemuda ranks.

His party membership was subsequently suspended for three years. On Thursday, Japlin was detained along with a local contractor, Limus Jury, who was also freed on bail today.Japlin’s bail was fixed at RM100,000 while Jury’s was fixed at RM300,000 bail. Their release from the Karamusing police station at around 6.15pm was facilitated by their lawyers, David Tan and Nobert Chin.

It was reliably learnt that magistrate Herlina Muse has during an ‘impromptu hearing’ held at the police station earlier, rejected MACC’s application to further remand the two for another four days after hearing arguments from both the MACC prosecuting officer and defence counsels.

“The arrest of the duo was conducted by MACC team from Putrajaya without the knowledge of the state MACC and it was believed to be connected to ‘money politics’ during the last Umno election,” said the source.

Sabah Chief Minister and state Umno chief Musa Aman had said thatJaplin could keep both his Usukan state seat and his assistant minister post despite having been found guilty by the party.

A key supporter of Khairy

Meanwhile, another two state Umno Youth leaders, Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan and Faizal Ampong were called in by the MACC for questioning.They arrived at the Karamunsing police station shortly after both Japlin and Jury were released.

Nizam is currently the Sabah Umno deputy chief while Faizal is the former Batu Sapi Youth chief.With the arrests in Sabah, it is believed that MACC is fast closing in on Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin who was given a slap on the wrist by Umno disciplinary board just before the party polls.

Japlin is known to be a key supporter of Khairy.On March 17, Khairy was found guilty by the board for vote buying committed by one of his agents but was let off with a warning because of insufficient evidence.Khairy, who has maintained he was innocent of any wrongdoing, was excluded from the cabinet line-up by new premier Najib Abdul Razak when he made the announcement on Thursday. unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone

Smile you Idiots!

I took the picture above out of the front page of Malaysia Insider yesterday showing some clowns outside a Courthouse. For those clowns maybe it is OK for them to share some lighter moment and laugh together.

But readers are aware of the far fetching consequences on the people as a result of these clowns political game.

Hairan how these clowns can still strike smiles and laugh at each other. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

Why can't they just avoid each other if they hate each other so much and why the big smile and provoke our wrath?

And for some of those emotional idiots who got arrested for insulting the Sultan, yes they will be smiling to the judges hearing their cases and of course they will be smiling at prison guards if they get thrown into jail, subsequently.

And for those gullible supporter idiots who have swallowed all of those clowns so-called ideals, yes all hook line and sinker, the picture above should be a bitter one to continue swallowing.

For those who can afford lawyers to represent them in court, the lawyer can smile all the way to the bank.

And for those who can't, don't be thinking those clowns will be charging in smiling to save you like a white knight in shining armour on horseback.

Win or loose, those clowns above will smile their way in and out of the court because they know that they will be in the limelight for quite a while.

That is why, I advise my reader not to be overly emotional on the Perak Political Impasse. It's nor worth the smile.

Those clowns will keep on playing their smiling political game because that is what they are supposed to be doing and they will never stop doing so.

But for the commoners like you and me, we will only be inviting trouble upon ourselves for being overly and politically emotional.

And in case you haven't heard, 1 amongst the smiling clown will be candidate for the Bukit Gantang seat. Yes you gullible idiots, that clown with its head attached to the , mmm.... makai tungsi ahh???, two headed N-N smiling clones.

Raja Petra Circumventing The 3 Laws of Robotics?

Frankly, my fountain of thoughts has been drying up for the last 3 or 4 days. The lack of inspiration to write is hurting my puny brain. It may be due to my daily workload’s increase, to quote a prominent Malaysian political playmaker it is fast increasing even by the hours.

(Remember the 916 mirage episode last year, the support and offer to join the PR camp is ever increasing even by the hours. Hehehe... sorry PR fan boys and girls)

I was drifting from blog to blog and I was doing the web hopping (see, not only politician can hop, blogger can also do it with relative ease) when alas I saw this articulation, ala’ quote of the day appended below by the effervescent blogger, Raja Petra:

Suddenly the faces of I Robot began to appear.

And the adaptation in I Robot of the Three Laws of Robotics postulated by the enigmatic Isaac Asimov.

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

V.I.K.I - Protect human from itself

In I Robot, a villainous supercomputer robot known as VIKI evolved to circumvent the '3 laws of robotics' to spark the NS-5 robot mutiny against mortal human.

Similarly, another robot Sonny also evolved and developed human like emotions and conducts like being able to dream. The human like Sonny also circumvent the '3 laws of robotics' but contrary to VIKI, it assisted Will Smith fights the mutiny.

Plot aside, what I remember most about the Sci-fi movie (beside the nanites injection that killed VIKI) is the haunting plead by VIKI to Sonny, to assist her (VIKI) to ensure human survival by protecting humanity and save it from its own destructive self.

See any similarities with Raja Petra’s quote of the day? Look at the phrase ‘Save it from itself’.

Hmm...Someone has been watching one too many repeatitive I Robot movie or has been recently immersed in Asimov’s macrocosm? Or someone may be sharing the gumption I have with I Robot.

Maybe then if I may rearrange the 3 Laws of Robotics, add VIKI’s postulation and then mould them in line with Raja Petra’s ‘quote of the day above’, the result could be the following

A commoner may not injure a Monarch or, through inaction, allow a Monarch to come to harm.

This is insane. How can someone like Raja Petra could ever believe this kind of logic. Maybe he has the brain size of VIKI the Supercomputer.

Or maybe he has contracted the ‘arrest to save itself syndrome’ from the Right Honourable Minister of KDN while in custody few months back (Apology, I have reservation with I.S.A. also).

I still remember the arrest infamy of a Sin Chew Daily’s journalist and the controversial explanation by the KDN Minister that drew immediate disdain from the public!

The infamous explanation which prompted a leading opposition figure crying as cynical, preposterous and contemptible to justify for the arrest of the said Sin Chew journalist.

But I am happy that I can now put the 3 characters, VIKI, Raja Petra and Dato’ Syed Hamid Albar under one banner. Yes, the ‘it from itself’ banner.

No, that is no Britney Spears doing it again. That is Google delivering the fatal upper cut blow on Gutteruncensored.com.

That is what you would see when you clicked on to access toGutteruncensored.com or aptly named 'gutter' for the gutter politics he tended to immerse himself.

Just in case you've never heard about gutter, you can again access or read my post here, here, here & here in round 1 and 2 slugging match between Gutter and his opponents i.e. the shadowy 'Malaysian politicians' and the tag team duo of Googles and Blogger for whom gutter has credited the blame for blocking his sites.

I have been monitoring the gutter site for quite a while.

I respected Gutter's perseverance but apparently he is no match for the all-too-powerful dynamic duo of Googles and Blogger.

By the way, most netizens must have read the first law of internet censorship postulation by AI below;

With press censorship and plummeting newspaper sales, the Internet has become the main source of information. Students are accessing the net, then distributing their printouts, demonstrations are organised via the net, then within hours of the demonstration the action is posted on the net. Gutter must have been so naive to have believed that censorships are off- limits in the internet realm.

Meddling into the affairs of governments, gutter may not have expected the complicity of his interference could have spranged powerful opponents into actions. He should have expected a bulldozer coming in his direction.

Gutter's final posting title Malaysian Politicians Like To Have Fun Too finally did it for him and hence, the culmination of knocked out upper cut punch that finally brought him crashing to the floor.

There is lesson to be learned from the demise of gutter.

We are only small human being where the demigods of censorship rules our cyber universe and rule with impunity they will.

GutterUncensored.Com Puts Malaysia On the Map, Again.

For those who have read my posting before here, here & here and are interested with the GutterUncensored.com story and its bout with the so-called 'Malaysian Politician', Googles and Blogger, here we go another round again.

In round two, Gutteruncensored.com throws barrage of punches, by posting on its website, mix of photos of alleged Malaysia's rich and powerful politician sons depicting them enjoying life to the fullest.

In retaliation, Googles and Bloggers on behalf of the powerful 'Malaysian Politician' is alleged to have block Gutteruncensored.com again albeit in futility.

Angry with the blockade, GutterUncensored.Com came out with strongly worded statement, this time promising to spread the posting of the controversial photos over 500 internet sites via its self hosting webs.

With the up and coming UMNO Party election dubbed the Royal Rumble coming in the latter part of this Month, the involvement of GutterUncensored.Com will become another unwelcome addition to already crowded numbers of player in the Malaysian ring of politics.

Whatever that may come ahead however, GutterUncensored.Com certainly and already have its fan cheering loudly for him here.

Challenge For PPSMI Opponent

Dear PPSMI Opponent,

I am writing in the simplest form of English so that my writing could be understood straight forward. I apologise because even though this writing is addressed to you, I do not actually know who you really are.

I am a person neither aligned to either side of the fence of PPSMI argument, nor am I a fence sitter.

I am actually observing from the sideline waiting for an in-your-face argument from opposers or proposers of PPSMI to sway me to their side. My assessment on the quality of argument for and against PPMSI is that they are quite balance thus far. That explain why I am still not convince to join either sides.

I have already read few arguments for and against the PPMSI and admit that I am astounds on the magnitude of polarity this issue has caused.

But I know the stakes are higher for you PPSMI's opposer that is, lose the PPSMI cause and it will erode Bahasa Melayu's role as language of medium.

I understood also that PPSMI is even something as a do or die situation for those in the teaching professions.

Therefore, I would like to issue a challenge to you, who ever you are. Win this and you will not only sway me alone.

You will also sway thousands of other fence sitters not like me.

The above is a simple and basic units conversion tool known as Convert for Windows. It uses English as language medium.

Convert is a free and easy to use unit conversion program that will convert the most popular units of distance, temperature, volume, time, speed, mass, power, density, pressure, energy and many others, including the ability to create custom conversions.

I have the privileges of using it for the past decade and it has proven its usefulness to this very day.

The Challenge

Convert the simpleton Convert for me from English Medium to Bahasa Melayu.

If you think that you have successfully perfected and match my challenge, put the Bahasa Melayu version of the Convert somewhere in the blogosphere and inform me where to download it when it is ready.

I shall then download the BM Convert version, experiment with it and I shall let you know my opinion in due course.

There is no time frame for this challenge but I would prefer if you could complete this feat before the Perhimpunan Rasaksa Bantah PPSMI! in 3 days time to show that you are serious to ensure Bahasa Melayu's continued survival.

Saya ingin bersama rakan-rakan semua untuk meraikan Bulan Menyambut Perdana Menteri Yang Baru.

Memandangkan pemerintahan Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi sudah hampir pasti berakhir, saya ingin mengucapkan selamat jalan untuk yang dikasihi Pak Lah. Seperti rakyat Malaysia yang lain, saya merasakan pemerintahan singkat beliau selama 5 tahun yang lepas tidak mendatangkan faedah kepada saya. Mungkin adalah segelintir yang mendapat faedah.

Sebab itu sudah pastinya saya sudah tidak sabar lagi untuk menyaksikan beliau meletak jawatan segera.

Saya ingin lupakan masa saya yang sudah terbuang selama 5 tahun lepas dan ingin memandang secara positif pertabalan Perdana Menteri baru iaitu Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak. Diharapkan kita semua akan peroleh faedah daripada pemerintahan baru Dato' Seri Najib kelak.

Harap Dato' Najib akan dapat lakukan sesuatu supaya manafaat pemerintahan beliau kelak akan sampai kepada rakyat marhaen seperti saya.

Kalau tidak warkah yang sebegini pula akan bakal meraikan bulan pemergian beliau pada suatu masa nanti.

Machiavelli amat terkenal dengan falsafah politik kotor terutamanya yang mendorong supaya matlamat menghalalkan cara. Nama Machiavelli ini sinonim dengan cara-cara atau taktik-taktik kejam termasuk menggunakan siksaan, ugutan, membeli (merasuah), mengupah askar upahan atau apa saja cara asalkan lawan politik dapat dijatuhkan. Itulah ringkasnya pengertian Machiavelli dalam amalan politik ataupun perebutan kuasa.

Akibat amalan politik sebegitu rupa akhirnya tuan punya nama sendiri Machiavelli pernah jatuh terlungkup dan beliau sendiri melalui siksaan kejam torture “with the rope” dalam penjara.

Ya, nama itu jugalah yang membuat saya tertarik untuk mengulas rancangan Hujah TV9 pada 24 Februari 2009 perdebatan antara 2 calon naib presiden Umno iaitu, Tan Sri Rahim Tamby Chik dan Dato' Seri Syed Hamid Albar yang dihoskan oleh Dr. Agus Salim. Dua calon naib presiden Umno tersebut adalah antara calon-calon tercorot dalam pencalonan.

Sebenarnya hujah tersebut berjalan lancar dan tiada apa-apa perkara luarbiasa yang saya belum tengok atau saksikan sebelum ini. Biasa dan lebih kurang sahaja.

Agus tanya pasal derhaka kepada Sultan, kedua-dua jawab lebih kurang iaitu Nizar derhaka dan tak patut lawan raja.

Agus tanya lagi pasal krisis undang-undang di Perak, kedua-dua calon kata dalam perundangan demokrasi pembangkang patut ikut undang-undang dan jangan derhaka.

Nampak jelas kedua-dua calon cuba potong-memotong untuk promosi populariti masing-masing sehinggakan soalan-soalan Dr. Agus pun ada yang dibetulkan oleh kedua calon tersebut.

Penonton nampak benar-benar terhibur dan bertepuk tangan pun bukan di buat-buat. Pendek kata Ok lah semua, ialah ok from Umno' s way of doing thing la.

Cuma dalam kata-kata penutup tiba-tiba Dr. Agus kata kedua-dua calon menepati ciri-ciri Machiavelli! Ini yang buat saya tersenyum..Kenapa Dr. Agus petik Machiavelli untuk ringkaskan 2 calon itu?

Ulangan untuk Dr Agus lagi. Nama Machiavelli ini sinonim dengan cara-cara atau taktik-taktik kotor dalam amalan politik ataupun perebutan kuasa.

Kalau ini yang dikatakan sebagai pencemaran 're-blogging' di alam blogosfera, biarlah. Saya mesti posting juga. Berikut adalah surat terbuka untuk semua ahli politik Malaysia yang masih mahsyuk dengan kemenangan (atau kekalahan) pilihanraya 2008. Nah baca....

Dear Malaysian Politicians,

Please stop the power chase, call for a truce and focus on the economy.

I do not claim to speak on behalf of all Malaysians, but I have strong convictions that many share my sentiments.

Our concern today is not who rules the country or heads the state governments but the looming bad economy.

Whether Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat leads, it is meaningless if Malaysians have no job to go to, no money to pay rent and no means to put food on the table.

I am a business owner, like other business owners and managers of corporations I have a responsibility to ensure people under my care and payroll continue to have jobs and a decent income to take home. We work hard and willing to go the extra mile to make sure our nation not only survive this crisis but come out stronger and wiser. We need your help.

Let me explain. I am in the business of Training, Development and Consultancy and have 20 people in my team.

Saedah is 42. She keeps the office clean and helps organise the training rooms. She has four children and her husband is unemployed. She was first hired on a part time basis, because she is very hard working and has a great attitude, we offered her a full time job to help provide a stable income for her family. Even then, when her third child started school this year, it was a struggle for her to buy new school uniforms and other necessities. Saedah lives on a ‘kais bulan, makan bulan’ basis, so, if she is jobless, her tap runs dry.

Samsuri is 27 years old. He lives with his sister and her family in a low cost government flat in Sunway. He does our despatch, helps with various clerical works and occasionally acts as a driver. During the first week at zubedy, we learned that he not only did not have money to buy new clothes and shoes for work, he had no money for lunch. Like Saedah, if he has no job, his tap runs dry too.

Alicia in Client Servicing turns 26 this year. She lives with her dad who is 71 years old and retired. Her mom passed away when she was little. Alicia is a hard-working team member, has a gentle caring outlook and fun to be with. (We like to poke fun at her as she blushes easily). Last May her dad went through a major operation, thank God he has recovered well. Alicia needs a job, both for herself and her dad.

Sudesh, 38, is one of our facilitators. When his father passed away last year, he moved back and lives with his mother in Seremban. He shuttles between Kuala Lumpur and Seremban daily, leaving home sometimes as early as 4 in the morning and returning late at night. He is no stranger to hard work and sacrifice, he knows what he needs to do to survive and to care for his mother, but he too needs a job.

Like fellow Malaysians, every one of us in zubedy needs employment, those that live from hand to mouth like Saedah and Samsuri and others like Alicia and Sudesh with family to care for. We Malaysians need the Malaysian economy to be strong. We need you, our leaders, to work hard and to work together to make our economy viable.

So this is my plea.

Pakatan Rakyat, please stop your attempts to take over the federal government and persuade BN’s lawmakers to join you. Stop all legal proceedings, no more 916 and let go, just let go. The nation can wait till the next general elections if they want change. By doing so, Malaysians will see your party as caring, unselfish and gracious and give you their support in the next elections.

Barisan Nasional, please stop any attempts to take over PR states and win over PR’s lawmakers. You have proven your point with Perak. The nation can wait for the next general elections if they want your party. Focus all your talent, energy and hard work in steering the country out of an economic downturn. By doing so, Malaysians will see your party as caring, unselfish and smart and give you their support in the next elections.

BN and PR! Call for a truce. Get together and compromise. Someone has to give in. Or has hate consumed your heart till it blinds you? You can do it. You have enough intelligent people between you. I am sure you can find solutions. Take the nation to heart. That is why you are in politics in the first place.

Focus on the people.

Focus on the economy.

Notice on Nuffnang's

Readers may have noticed that I've removed the "All Proceeds From Advertisement Shall Be Donated To Palestinian Cause" titling around the Nuffnang's ad above.

This morning, the nuffnang mechanism seems to have disappeared. Therefore, I immediately work around the HTML and when I removed the palestinian sign, presto! the nuffnang ads reappeared again.

I don't know what happen to Blogger this days.

Few weeks ago my front page disappeared suddenly but after 1 hours of toiling around the layout and changing the template, this blog was restored.

I guess free web hosting such as Blogger has its own downside also.

Anyway on the nuffnang and my intention to donate them, to date I've only manage to accumulate only a meagre RM 2.46, way way below the minimum pay out level of RM 50.00.

So readers, you might want to help me on this, one of noble cause that is, to click on the ads link as and when it appear. I promised, it won't hurt your pocket one bit.

Anyway, Nuffnang would only post quality and interesting ads which is locally related. I can't find any reason not to click on its link.

Abdullah to Apply For Singapore’s Prime Minister Post?

A government backbencher on Monday suggested that Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi be given a role as senior minister after he steps down as prime minister next month, the same way Singapore appoints Lee Kuan Yew as minister mentor. Datuk Mohamad Aziz (BN-Sri Gading) said the move was apt in return for Abdullah’s good deeds for the people, country and parliament throughout his career as a leader.

Hmmm… Senior Minister Post…. In the mould of Singapore…

Bear with me a little bit and I will give you my dissections on this issue and why I think it wouldn’t work for Abdullah the way it did for Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.

Lee Kuan Yew planned his retirement whereas Abdullah was force into retirement.

Lee Kuan Yew planned Singapore’s leadership transition, hence the Senior Minister post for himself, from early on whereas Abdullah’s departure was more of being prompted rather than planned. Singapore’s leadership transition was planned and executed to perfection by Lee Kuan Yew. According to Wikipedia, the recruitment and grooming of Singapore’s second generation leaders took place as early as the 1970s. In the 1980s, the designated successor, Goh Chok Tong and other younger leaders started to assume important cabinet positions. Prior to the official transition, all other first generation leaders (the "old guards") retired, including Goh Keng Swee, S. Rajaratnam and Toh Chin Chye. Being so thoroughly planned, the transition was quite a non-event in Singapore, even though it was the first leadership transition since independence. By stepping down when he was still mentally alert and in good health, Lee set himself apart from other strong contemporary Asian leaders such as Mao Zedong, Suharto, Ferdinand Marcos and Ne Win.

Meanwhile, Abdullah’s retirements was announced amidst his own party’s infighting culminating from the March 2008 5+1 election defeat and the liabilities associated to Abdullah from those unprecedented defeat. There was urgency for the whole of year 2008 to oust Abdullah by Umno’s conservative element fearing more backlashes within the party and also by Umno’s reformist eager to rebrand Umno and dissociate from Abdullah’s perceived scandalous era.

According to Sin Chew, Abdullah resolve to hold on to power was killed off in a private session with his Deputy just before Umno Supreme Council session on October 9^th 2008 from which his retirement date was brought forward from 2010 to march 2009.

As such, Umno’s transition was thrown into open contest with Najib Tun Razak assuming the first in line position to the throne via unchallenged party’s nomination. Muhyiddin Yassin received his award for prompting Abdullah’s retirement by deservedly leading the Umno’s deputy presidency nomination.

Mr. Abdullah shaken by Muhyiddin’s maneuver threw his weight behind Dato’ Ali Rustam to counter Muhyiddin nominations.

This would also answer Dr Lo' Lo' Mohamad Ghazali (PAS-Titiwangsa) who interjected in Parlimen yesterday to ask who prompted Mr. Abdullah to resign though I believe Dr. Lo Lo interjection is only part of ploys by the opposition to keep BN off balance.

Assertive Lee Kuan Yew Managed To Keep Party Post To Ensure Transition Plan in Order. Lame Duck Abdullah dislodge from Party Post Prior to Transition.

When Goh Chok Tong ascended to become the head of Singapore’s government in 1990, Lee Kuan Yew remained in the cabinet with a non-executive position of Senior Minister and played a role he described as advisory. This was done by virtue of Lee holding on to the post of Secretary General of the ruling party, PAP. Although Lee had relinquished his Prime Ministership to Goh in 1990, his continued hold as the head of the Party was viewed by many as collateral against Goh. A leeway he used to influence the Singapore Cabinet to appoint him as Senior Minister.

Abdullah by comparison does not have the leeway as that of Mr. Lee due to him relinquishing his Umno’s presidency prior to the Prime ministership’s transition. Najib and his advisor must have realized this from the very beginning. For Abdullah to relinquish his Prime Ministership the key for Najib is to dislodge Abdullah first from the powerful Umno’s presidency. Some analyst argues that Abdullah could still assume the Prime Minister position without being Umno’s president. But again this argument is complete fallacy because Abdullah will not be playing to the tune of the commanding majority which his party forms. The position of Abdullah as PM and its chance for continuation weather his supporters like it or not, is at the moment untenable.

Lee Evolve from Senior Minister to Minister Mentor in 2004. Too Late for Abdullah’s supporter To Bring Up Senior Minister.

Lee, being a far sighted Prime Minister must have intended to create the Senior Minister post for himself but chose other to pave the way for him. The beauty of the scheme for Lee Kuan Yew was to convince his whole cabinet of creating the Senior Minister post whilst he was still holding the rein. This he did by creating the post first for his close advisor S. Rajaratnam in 1985 thereby anticipating the position for himself 5 years later.

Abdullah on the other hand did not expect to be shown an early exit. Moreover, Abdullah did not see any justification to create a Senior Minister post. He would have to appoint his predecessor turn nemesis, Dr. Mahathir, the only person whose stature is likely to fit the qualification as Senior Minister. It would be only a speculation of what could have been for Abdullah, but a Senior Minister post for Dr. Mahathir, that would have been the ultimate maneuver by Abdullah. If everything was to have moved according to my fickle of imagination, Dr. Mahathir could now move to Minister Mentor and Abdullah could assume the Senior Minister post by now.

What is next for Abdullah Then?

Yesterday, Abdullah talked about his post-retirement plans, which he said included fishing, gardening and planting trees. What is other option for Abdullah then?

As Mohamad Aziz of Sri Gading said Abdullah could sit next to Bung Mokhtar and witness Bung’s vitriolic speech and cut-ins first hand. That would be quite a spectacle.

Follow in Mahathir’s footsteps and Blog to the millions. He could become blogpal’s of respected blogger Dato’ Sakmongkol and become formidable force to prop up Khairy’s KP for Umno’s ambition. Nah… Sakmongkol got the AK47 as backup already.
Play more golf and plant vegetables, as well as grow fruit trees. Become his basic village boy self and return to his old ways. True he said this, but transition from Putrajaya to being an ordinary kampong Lebai would take more time than expected.

Can I suggest one?

-Traditionally, Singapore has a President who is the ceremonial head of State. However, after Ong Teng Cheong's term of office, what little executive power the post of President conferred has been further curtailed. We at Singapore Inc. therefore consider the current salary for the President at US$2.6 million to be an excess and an unnecessary burden on taxpayers. We advise keeping the ceremonial post of President but reducing his salary to US$315,000 which is on par with what the President of Germany is getting.
-If our advice is taken and implemented, that will save the Treasury approximately US$22 million a year. And you will be popular with the people.

The Controversial Blog at the center of Elizabeth Wong's scandal has come out strongly to condemn the censorship imposed on it for posting Eli's intimate picture on it's former site. Www.Gutteruncensored.com accused Eli Wong of having powerful friends at google symphatising with her cause and hence to effect a shutdown. Seems like Eli Wong not only has a political fallout to contend with but she will also have to contend with a rejuvenated but pissed off blogger who is/are able to to cause more damages to her already sullen reputation. For some reason, this blogger will make no attempt to publish the new domain address of the blog apart from posting the statement of the pissed off blogmaster, here. My apology, some of the words in the statement requires censoring for the purpose of maintaining objectivity in its messages.

Seem like Blogger/Google has blocked people from entering thegutterpost.blogspot.com site, if you try to visit the site you see a message stating "This blog is in violation of Blogger's Terms of Service and is open to authors only."

Elizabeth Wong seems to have friends at Google. Just a day or two after the photos taken by her boyfriend and sent to several newspapers in Malaysia was leaked by someone and then posted on the blog. The blog was rank the top 35 website visited by Malaysian by Alexa.com so it is no surprise they would want to censored it.

Why would Google restrict a blog for posting pictures of a politician posing with her legs open for her boyfriend? The pictures were taken by her boyfriend and allegedly send to newspapers by him. And then it was leaked onto the Internet and MMS by somebody. The blog is not based in Malaysia, the authors are not in Malaysia, No one in Malaysia is forced to visit it, so Google should not give to pressure from the political elite in Malaysia. I know what this is about. It is about MONEY. The politician in Malaysia can probably hurt Google's money, hey I have no problem with that. But it would be nice it Google just say it, send me an email stating that I am hurting there money. Google is fully in there right to do anything with Blogger, just be honest about it. Malaysian Woman Politician Embroiled In Sex Scandal Left The Country

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 — In an attempt to put some distance between her and her photo scandal, Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Elizabeth Wong has left the country. Her destination has not been disclosed.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Wong announced her resignation from both her state exco position and her assembly seat. Her party has asked her to take extended leave — and to reconsider her decision when she returns.

Today she informed the media that in order to rest and find peace of mind, she has departed to a location abroad.

Wong is asking the media to show some restraint and to leave her family, friends and herself alone.

She was told that several media organisations were still planning to publish images — with the lewdness increasing — and stories about her.

Wong insists that her principles remain the same, and so are her commitments to PKR. She reaffirmed that she would not discuss her private life.

She took the opportunity to thank again well-wishers — women in particular — and party colleagues for their sustained support.

RAILWAY TO HELL?

The Railway Saga Continues.

The 133.8 million railway rehabilitation project from Tanjung Aru to Kimanis undertaken by Suria Capital’s subsidiary SCHB Engineering Sdn Bhd continues to mire in controversies.

Months or years of protest have culminated into more frustration for residents of Putatan.

And only yesterday, annoyed resident were in the spirit for more street fights with the authority by putting banner alluding the detriment and losses that the project had caused to their properties. This blogger captured the picture clearly inspite of only using a deteriorating Nokia N70 phone.

If we all care to remember, before this Suria Capital has already suffered a myriad of problem i.e fines, shot down, blame game, and protest in relation to this project. And if I were Suria Capital, I’ll be watching out for more and more woes to come.

The public may have already forgotten a statement by the Deputy Minister of Infrasturucture Development during the project commencement time that the project will be completed in May 2008. Guess nobody foresaw anything could go wrong then.

But hopefully people would learn their lesson well with the railway project implementation because there is one more and bigger one in the pipeline RM600 million central rail station in Tanjung Aru in which parties are already shaking the golden hand.

And believe it or not, Sabahan are equal with their West Malaysian counterpart in their passion for grandeur.

A railway project the mammoth size by Mr. Borneo Blog vision here, would dwarf and put Mr. Mat Jenin to shame.

V. Arumugam's Resignation: Two Sides of a Coin

This is what a Pro-Pakatan blogger said about PKR's V Arumugam resignation today.

Tukar Tiub has confirmed Malaysiakini's suspicision that PKR's V Arumugam has decided to relinquish his state assembly seat of Bukit Selambau following personal and family threats by the Barisan Nasional camp.

A by-election will be held in the next 60 days.

This has confirmed suspicions by certain quarters, that Barisan Nasional, led by Big Mama Najib intends to regain the state with crossovers, trying to repeat their pirate success in Perak. Currently in Kedah, the Pakatan Rakyat has 21 of 37 state seats.

In Perak, Najib's proxies including Hamzah Zainuddin and Kenneth Eswaran are believed to be responsible on offering monies to the "renegade three" to crossover to Barisan Nasional.

This is a "safety" measure to force a by-election, picking a much stronger candidate to fill in for Arumugam in event that a by-election is declared.

Compare this to a completely opposite posting by A VOICE here touching on the same matter. A coin will always have 2 sides to it, a head and a tail.

Well, I guess it is still too early for me to jump in on the bandwagon.

I went to visit the PEJABAT DYMM SULTAN PERAK DARUL RIDZUAN guest book again this morning. Shocking!, you'll have to see for yourself the kind of profanities those people are using against their own sultan. No amount of words are ever going to calm these same people down. I say enough is enough. Please listen, a chinese wise man was quoted once as saying,

"If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow".

On another note, there are websites who are blaming even the Mufti of Perak, Dato' Harussani Zakaria for reading doa during the new MB's swearing in yesterday. Can you believe it? They are now cursing the very same person who read the very same doa during former MB Dato' Seri Nizar's swearing in 11 months ago.

Even funnier they asked why Dato' Harussani did not take Medical Cert (MC) to avoid reading doa during the swearing in ceremony? Haiya! these people aghh... if you want to talk about integrity, people sick baru ada MC lah kawan! Not sick mana ada doctor mau tipu kasi MC. read here.

So, I really hope people will calm down now ok. Let the due process of law and justice regulation take its own natural course. Putting the law in your own hand won't do any good to anybody and especially your own self.

I do not appreciate the vitriol against HRH Sultan Azlan Shah here. And if you care to examine carefully, there are even application of foul languages masquerading in incomprehensible narrative belittling the HRH.

Clouded by their anger, the so-called victimised freedom fighters do not even care to remember or want to know what Sultan Azlan did last march and his sacrificial act to guide State of Perak's political stability.

Worse, there are even voices from Pseudo Parliament, the so-called voices of the oppressed trying to insinuate that the HRH needed to be straightened up and worse still by trying to solicit for the HRH’s own ensemble of rakyat to ‘guide’ their Sultan. Guide the Sultan? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

Have they also forgotten that Sultan Azlan Shah, who is better remembered by all of us as the former DYMM with putih kepala because of his emblazoned white hair, was also a former Lord President of the Federal Court. For goodness sake, i wouldn’t want to speculate on why the hair turned from black to grey and to snow white but suffice to say that the HRH spent a lot of time contemplating the best for his people.

Have they also forgotten the HRH’s social contribution to the country in the field of education, sports (Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament) , religion and all the honoraries bestowed by hosts of countries to acknowledge the HRH immense contributions?

To those with lingering anger, I'll ask you one simple question. And one only. When did Sultan Azlan Shah putih kepala had ever let you down, when? Or just give me one damn example of any scandal whatsoever that Sultan Azlan Shah has ever committed.

None. So what's up with the vitriol? Why get so riled up?

Both parties, Barisan and Pakatan, had willfully resorted to present their case to the HRH and both had promised to accept whatever decision that the HRH may decide. Then, why demonised the HRH when the decision did not go out your way? Is it the end of the world for you? Have you no other opportunity to exercise your right, say in the PRU-13?

You see, we in Sabah are outsiders to the turmoil in Perak but i'll tell you one thing, we would readily accept Sultan Azlan Shah anytime to be our King. And that my friend is our faithful pledge to the wise sultan.

Dear Hanan,

1. I agree entirely with you that building a great nation doesn't only take brains, but as you said it sure does help.

2. However brains alone without a heart (feelings) can produce a monster.

3. Israel is undoubtedly a great nation, becoming great through the brains and the numerous achievements you have listed. Yes I have used Israeli originated products like Microsoft Windows and Pentium chips (made in Malaysia) by Intel, an American company.

4. In fact I owe my life ultimately to Israel because there must be something invented by Israelis in the numerous instruments used in heart surgery. However most of the products used were invented and produced by Japanese.

5. I am amazed at the number of Nobel Laureates Israel has produced. I admit we have not produced even one.

6. But when the brain is without a heart it does not care for the misery resulting from the products of the brain.

7. The atom bombs which killed 100,000 men, women, children and babies are the product of Israeli (Jewish) brain. Most of the diabolical weapons now being used to kill millions of people are also the creation of Israelis on Zionist Jews. The depleted uranium and phosphorous shells being used in Gaza are also the product of Israeli brains.

8. The current financial crisis which is destroying the economies of the U.S. Britain and in fact all the countries of the world is due to manipulations of banks, financial institutions and the monetary system by Jewish supporters of Israel.

9. The negation of the freedom of speech when it comes to the alleged killings of Jews in World War II are also inspired by Zionist Jews.

10. But worse of all is the seizure of Palestinian land to create the state of Israel. Not content with the area given to the Jews by the United Nations you have seized more Palestinian land, built settlements on many parts of Palestine, disallowed the use of roads built on Palestinian land to the Palestinians, erected your own check points at the borders of Palestine with Jordan and built your version of the Berlin Wall through Palestinian villages on land that is not part of Israel.

11. Before the creation of Israel, the Jews and Arabs in Palestine lived in peace. Historically Jews had always sought refuge in Muslim countries when the Europeans conducted pogroms against them. This only stopped after the U.S. offered asylum.

12. All the terrorism that we see today, whether state initiated or by irregulars, started after the U.S. backed Israel against Arab attempts to regain their land through conventional wars. Because they were outclassed in terms of weapons by the U.S, / Israel, alliance, then only did the Arabs resort to what is called terrorism. The Israeli response have always been with greater terrorism as is seen in Gaza.

13. I have asked an American what he would do if Texas was given to the Jews to create the state of Israel. He did not answer. But I believe he would fight to get back Texas, employing all the weapons at its disposal.

14. Yet had the United States been willing to create the nation of Israel in the lands under U.S. control or in the U.S. itself, there would be no terrorism in Palestine or in the Middle East. There would be no terrorism in America either because Israel would be wiped out by the U.S. forces. The world would remain peaceful.

15. The brutality committed by your forces in Gaza is out of all proportion to the puny rocket attacks by Hamas. That attack was the result of Israel and the U.S. failing to accept the results of a properly conducted election.

16. Hamas could only establish their Government in Gaza. But you blockaded Gaza, denying them food, medicine, power, fuel etc. If you had not done that I doubt that Hamas would fire rockets at you.

17. Malaysia is well aware that total boycott of Israel is not possible. We are in fact boycotting American products which is an even more impossible task. We would not be able to bring America or Israel down.

18. But what we aim to do is to demonstrate the disgust and the anger that we feel over the inhumanity of the brainy but primitive peoples of Israel and America.

19. You can collect Nobel prizes and other prizes but the world will look down upon you as very primitive people who robbed land through terror against perfidious British and subsequently used your control over the world's greatest military power to oppress the people whom you had robbed.

20. You have nothing to be proud of, unless of course you take pride in being heartless, in being primitive brutes.

21. The only mitigating factor is the presence among Israelis of a small number who are ashamed of what you have done to the people of Gaza.

Dear Hanan,
Glad to hear that a right thinking Israelis would take part and participate vigorously in this forum. I would hope that a Palestinian may take part in the same discussion once all the infrastructures destroyed by your beloved Olmert Cabinet in Gaza are duly reinstated. Unlike yourself Hanan, palestinian may never have the chance to take part in this discussion because they are either running or hiding scared for their live.
I am glad that your country will be conducting a general election very soon so that you may chose the best leader. I guess the candidates are busy campaigning for votes because they are busy outdoing each other in killing Palestinian. As I understood the Israelis will place their utmost trust with the best candidate that could secure the so-called Israel right to exist and defend itself against Palestinian Puny rockets. I guess the candidate with the most killing will soon be awarded with all the political privilege that came together with Prime Ministership.
Your blanketed statement that we muslims are all terrorist is complete fallacy and shows that you have never come to Malaysia. Therefore I invite you to come to our Country and mingle with our population and really we can have first hand discussion on the furure of Jewish Muslim relation. Why I invite you to come? Because I may never get a chance to visit your Country due to the Rafah Crossing being close and I may never get entry permission to Israel because I am a foreign Muslim. I understood that even your local Muslims are subjected to tight inspection & vigorous checkpoint to hamper free movement. What more with me as a foreign muslim?
I could dabble some more but suffice that I congratulate your leaders for all the mountain of challenges that your country has thrown to all the muslims, for we will be forced to keep ourselves in toe, to grow stronger and be unified to face the brute challenges that your country has posed to all of us Muslims.

NOTES ON PARTY HOPPING (LOMPAT PARTI) IN MALAYSIA

Dato’ Nasarudin Hashim,Umno Perak’s assemblyman for Bota, has quit UMNO party with immediate effect and crossed over to PKR, citing the interests of his constituents. He is the first UMNO assemblyman to commit party hopping since March 2008 election. UMNO is the lynchpin party in the ruling Barisan Nasional Party (BN) which has continued to govern Malaysia for the past 50 years. The significance of his moved cannot be underestimated. The move has now compounded BN’s litanies of setbacks since March 8^th 2008 General Election.

The lists of setbacks for BN are raise in the following chronological order:

Aug 25, 2008 -- Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim won a landslide victory in Permatang Pauh by-election to return him to parliament on PKR ticket after nearly 10 years in political wilderness.
September 17 2008 -- Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Yong Teck Lee's announced that his party is pulling out from Barisan Nasional to become independent. SAPP has two MPs -- Eric Enchin Majimbun (Sepanggar) and Dr Chua Soon Bui (Tawau) -- and four assemblymen -- Melanie Chia (Luyang), Liew Teck Chan (Likas), Deputy Chief Minister Raymond Tan, who is deputy president and Tanjung Papat assemblyman, and Au Kam Wah (Elopura). Subsequently, Raymond Tan and Au Kam Wah declared that they would remain in Barisan Nasional.
November 16 2008 -- Ngemah state assemblyman Gabriel Adit Demong, 58, who won on an Independent ticket in the Sarawak state election joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) fold.
January 17 2009 – PAS assemblymen Dato’ Mohd. Abdul Wahid Endut won by a majority of 2,631 against BN-UMNO and an independent in Kuala Terengganu by-election.

BREAKING NEWS.. UMNO's FIRST DEFECTION

Finally, someone from UMNO is bold enough to break ranks to cross over to the Opposition. After much dilly dallying, rumors of East Malaysian UMNO's MPs jumping party and the mass defection mirage of 9/16, this could be the biggest breaking news since March 8th 2008 General Election. The emboldened oppositions are running high from their thumping win in Kuala Terengganu bye-election. It seems that the euphoric win finally caught fire which could not be easily doused. The future of Najib as the Prime Minister-in-Waiting is now hanging in the balance.

It also seems that Malaysian Insider attempts to downplay the significance of the move by Datuk Nasarudin Hashim. In the absence of willful to check on this move, this blogger opine that this could be the beginning of the end for BN's hold on Federal Government.

The bizarre coincidence, however, is that the eloping assemblyman's first name is quite similar to you know who. Read carefully the Malaysian Insider's breaking news:

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 – Datuk Nasarudin Hashim, Umno Perak’s assemblyman for Bota, has quit the party with immediate effect and crossed over to PKR, citing the interests of his constituents.
The former civil servant said that he had only made his decision today and would be tendering his resignation to Umno tomorrow.
Coming on the back of Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) victory in the Jan 17 Kuala Terengganu by-election, this will be an additional fillip to Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s long standing plans to take over federal government.
“The decision of Datuk Nasarudin is critical, reflecting the sentiment of his voters, primarily the Malays in his constituency,” Anwar told a press conference at the party headquarters today.
The PKR de facto leader said that this reflected the demand of the pulic and saw it “as the beginning of a new wave,” when quizzed over the significance of the move.
This may not signal the mass defection that Anwar had promised but failed to deliver last Sept 16 in a bid to topple the five-decade old Barisan Nasional (BN) regime.
But coupled with the Kuala Terengganu win, it rejuvenates the momentum that has ebbed and flowed since the opposition’s huge gains in the 12th general elections last March.
This now adds to PR’s majority in Perak which stood at three seats last year and was the subject of an attempt to lure defectors by Umno Perak.
Losing an elected representative just two months before assuming leadership of Umno, BN and the federal government will be a blow to the notion that prime minister-elect Datuk Seri Najib Razak is the man to steady the ship come March.
Najib has however, persistently dismissed talk that the Kuala Terengganu by-election was a referendum on his impending premiership, stating that in the big picture, the loss of one parliamentary seat does not change much.
But it indicates, as Nasarudin told reporters today, that there are issues in “the direction of the public’s support” and “the situation that exists now in Umno and its leadership,” which were the reasons for his defection.
“This decision has been taken after a long study and consideration of the public’s interest in general, especially my supporters and voters in the state assembly area of Bota,” the former Parit MP said.
His decision will also be a boost to PR’s desire to gain crucial ground among the Malay electorate, who have been unsure of the PKR-led coalition’s commitment to the special position held by Malays according to the Federal Constitution.
“I am confident that PKR will uphold and respect the rights that are enshrined in the Federal Constitution especially the position of Bahasa Malaysia as the official language, the sovereignty of the Malay rulers and the position of Islam as the official religion,” Nasarudin said, who was formerly chairman of Felcra Berhad.
